One of the changes, improvements, and fixes for PC:
Fixed the issue causing PCs to appear stuck at “Preparing to install…” somewhere between the 80%-100% in Windows Update when attempting to install a new build.

GPU Caps Viewer 1.39.0 is a maintenance release and comes with the support of new NVIDIA GPUs (NVIDIA TITAN V and Quadro GV100, AMD Radeon RX Vega 11 and Vega 8). This new version adds a mininal high-DPI support that prevents GPU Caps Viewer to be resized by Windows when user sets a scale > 100% (no longer blurry effect). The report export has been improved and a new command line allows to append or not the current timestamp to the report file. The OpenGL panel has been slightly updated.


New Vulkan beta drivers for Windows and Linux are out.

  • Focus assist improvements when gaming: Now Focus assist will turn on automatically when you’re playing any full screen game. No more interruptions when you’re crushing it. This behavior should be turned on automatically, but you can always check by going to Settings > System > Focus assist and ensuring the “When I’m playing a game” automatic rule is enabled.
  • We fixed an issue resulting in the Game Bar not appearing for some Insiders after pressing WIN+G.

NVidia hotfix driver 397.55 is now available on the NVidia customer support site.

Hot Fix driver 397.55 addresses the following:

  • - After driver installation, Device Manager may report Code 43 error on a few GTX 1060 cards models.
  • - Netflix playback may occasionally stutter.
  • - Added support for Microsoft Surface Book notebooks.

 NvfbcPluginWindow temporarily prevents Windows from shutting down after launching a Steam game. 
 [Firefox]: Driver TDR error may occur when using Firefox.
 [GeForce GTX 1060][Rise of Tomb Raider]: Flickering/corruption occurs when opening the in-game options UI. 
 [NVIDIA Control Panel][SLI][Diablo III]: With V-Sync on and SLI enabled, the game freezes after switching windows (ALT+TAB) a few times.

Windows 10 Open Issues
 [Microsoft Edge][HDR] With HDR turned ON, video playback in full-screen mode on an HDR display may cause corruption of the video and desktop. To recover, manually turn the monitor OFF and then back ON.
 [Far Cry 5]: Green flickering occurs in the game when using HDR with non-native resolution. To work around, either quit and then restart the game while in the desired resolution, or press [Alt+tab] away from and then back to the game, or press [Alt+Enter] to switch to windowed mode and then back to full-screen mode.
 [NVIDIA TITAN V][G-Sync]: G-Sync displays may go blank when switching between different overclocked memory clocks multiple times.
 [SLI][GeForce GTX 780 Ti]: There is no display output when connecting the DisplayPort and two DVI monitors.
 [GeForce TITAN (Kepler-based)]: The OS fails after installing the graphics card on a Threadripper-enabled motherboard.
 [Pascal GPUs][Gears of War 4]: Blue-screen crash may occur while playing the game.
 [GeForce GTX 1080 Ti]{Warhammer Vermintide 2][DirectX 12]: TDR errors may occur when changing resolutions in game. To work around, use the DirectX 11 game option.
 [NVIDIA Control Panel][Surround]: NVIDIA Surround hot keys do not work.
 [GeForce Experience][ShadowPlay]: The “In-Game Overlay” option cannot be enabled, nor does Shadowplay recording work.

Windows Defender Security Center gets a Fluent Design refresh
We’ve heard your feedback and when you install this build you’ll find we’ve updated Windows Defender Security Center (WDSC) to include the Fluent Design elements you know and love. You’ll also notice we’ve adjusted the spacing and padding around the app and will now dynamically size the categories on the main page if more room is needed for extra info. Last but not least, we’ve also updated the title bar of the app so that it will now use your accent color if you’ve enabled that option in Color Settings – with Sets enabled, you will see this color in the WDSC tab.
